Experience traditional West African music and culture in a clear and easy-to-follow format.Learn proper technique, production of basic sounds and exercises for stamina and speed for jembe and dunduns. Focus on traditional rhythms from Mande region and their origins and traditional uses. Instructed by award-winning performer and educator, Ryan M. Camara. This is the only opportunity for the public to study with Ryan in Ashland in 2007! Don't miss it!

This class meets at a beautiful private studio located in Ashland that does not wish to have it's information publicized. The studio is 5 min. from downtown and has wood floors and good acoustics. Directions will be sent once payment is complete. No Drop-ins!

Immerse yourself in the traditional music and culture of West Africa. Learn the music of jembe and dundun orchestra in an ensemble setting, fostering group participation and fun. Skill building techniques, exercises and traditional rhythms will be brought to life through a variety of multi-media sources and intensive hands-on training. Drum required, some rentals available.
