Denbaya Performances

Our performance goal is to expose southern Oregon and the Pacific Northwest region to diverse, unique, enriching multi-cultural West African musical experience. Our aim is to continue to grow the global community arts presence by building a strong network of similarly focused performance groups and organizations. We are committed to working tirelessly to augment the offerings related to multicultural arts in this region. We strive to enhance community awareness and appreciation for different art forms. To this end, our performance goals often include sponsoring master performers to participate in local concerts and festivals, and our educational offerings. Performance is the way that this music comes alive for the general public and the way in which those who study drum and dance are inspired to greater personal achievement and strengthened musicianship.

Denbaya Drum and Dance offers a number of performance option for a variety of community events and budgets. All of our groups feature exciting drum, dance, and song mixed with heart-pounding arrangements and entertaining choreography. Wakili, our advanced performance group, has performed throughout Southern Oregon including the Ashland Festival of Lights, the SOU Day of Percussion, Ashland's 4th of July Parade, the Schneider Museum of Art, and at the Britt Festivals Family Concert. Tara Khunya, our newly forming youth ensemble, will feature some of the region's most talented young drummers and dancers!

Denbaya maintains a professional partnership with the internationally renowned premier West African Drum and Dance ensemble, Company Forè-Foté which features Master drummer M. Lamine Dibo Camara and his adopted son, Ryan M. Camara. Forè-Foté has performed on some of the world's top stages for over ten years.
