Denbaya's community drum classes are the cornerstone of its educational program. Drummers have a wide variety of skills and experiences and each of Denbaya’s courses have a well-defined curriculum and detailed syllabi to meet these needs. Each level’s curriculum makes it clear to each student which techniques and information must be mastered in order to be considered eligible for a level certification. Certification provides students benchmarks for measuring progress and encourages learners to reflect on their achievements and to consider what challenges lie ahead.

 At the end of each session, all Denbaya students receive a detailed study kit that includes the history and notation of the rhythms being taught and a customized practice CD to maximize retention. (No more fumbling around with cheap tape recorders!). Additionally, 1.5 hours of level-appropriate practice time is reserved at The Grove in Ashland outside of regularly scheduled instruction time. There is no reason not to "practice perfectly" now!
