Denbaya Dance Class Levels

Dance 101 - Beginning West African Dance
Offers beginning through advanced students of all ages the opportunity to study traditional West African Dance in a fun-filled, high energy, athletic environment. Complete body warm-ups and stretching are performed. The dance steps to specific rhythms are broken down in an easy-follow-format at a slow and easy tempo. Each step is then danced with live music and a completed choreography is put together over the course of 2-3 weeks. Instructors teach the traditional songs that accompany each rhythm. These classes are a great aerobic workout and feature live music from Denbaya artists.

Dance 201 - Intermediate West African Dance
Take your dancing to the next level. For those serious about studying the many subtleties that make West African Dance so athletic and amazing. Level II is a fast-paced, physically demanding class. More advanced dance steps and dance techniques are taught and longer arrangements and choreography are memorized. Focus is on body-conditioning, flexibility and drum/dance relationships. Classes feature live music Denbaya artists.
